Privacy policy

Who runs this site
transcription.page is run by an independent individual developer, not a company. If you have a question about this policy or your data, write to [email protected].
What happens when you transcribe a video
When you paste a link, that link is sent to our server. The server downloads the video's audio temporarily so it can be transcribed, either from the platform's existing captions or with the Whisper speech recognition model, and deletes the audio once the transcription is finished.
The transcript is sent back to your browser. It is not stored on our server.
History stored in your browser
Your past transcriptions are saved in your browser's local storage, on your own device, so you can reopen them later. We cannot see this history. You can clear it at any time from the History panel, or by clearing your browser's site data.
Audience measurement
We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how the site is used, but only if you accept it in the cookie banner. If you refuse, the Google Analytics cookies are not set.
When you accept, Google Analytics collects information such as the pages you view, your approximate country, your device type and events like “transcription started”. It does not receive the content of your transcripts. You can withdraw your consent at any time with the “Cookie settings” link in the footer.
Hosting and network
The site is hosted and delivered through Cloudflare, which processes technical data such as IP addresses to protect the site against attacks and to deliver pages quickly.
No sale of data, no advertising
We do not sell your data and we do not show advertising. No data is shared for marketing purposes.
Third-party platforms
The videos you transcribe are hosted on YouTube, Instagram or TikTok, which have their own terms and privacy policies. Only transcribe content you have the right to use, and respect the rights of the creators.
Your rights
You can ask to access or delete data concerning you, or object to its processing, by emailing [email protected]. Since transcripts and history are not kept on our server, most of your data is already under your control in your own browser.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when the site changes. The date at the top of this page shows when it was last revised.
